It burned, this world, dull red flames licking at the ruins of buildings. He strode down the street, dust swirling up from under his feet to mingle with the ashes that were settling.
Soot coated his face and his armour; soot and dark red blood but there was no time to rid himself of the stench of death.
His God was waiting and his God never waited patiently.
He sank to his knees, fist clenched against his chest. "My Lord. This world is yours."
An aristocratic face smiled cruelly out over the devastation and in his heart doubt burned too.
